Manufacturer: The Western Stoneware Co. of Monmouth, IL.
This is a stoneware pitcher depicting "Old Sleepy Eye". He was a Sioux Indian Chief who was born in Minnesota in 1780. His name was used for the name of a town and a flour mill. In 1906 The Western Stoneware Co. of Monmouth, IL. started producing pitchers and other items with the bust of the Chief done in cobalt blue. They have become very collectible through the years. This pitcher measures 8" in height and is in very good condition considering they were used as an everyday utilitarian piece. It also has some slight staining from age that can be bleached out. However, many people prefer the old original color like it is. "Click" on the thumbnail to the left to see an enlargement and any other pictures we may have of this wonderful collectible! Feel free to e-mail us any questions you may have concerning this item and remember - - all sales have our 7 day money back guarantee! |
